Adolescent Psychological Counseling

When we work together, it's as partners collaborating -- not as an expert advising a client. It's my job to be curious about how an adolescent sees the world, and to support them in clarifying and emphasizing the strengths they already have.

My clients typically struggle with…

  • Mood disorders (Depression, Bi-Polar Disorder)

  • Suicidal ideation

  • School-related anxiety and school avoidance

  • Substance use

  • Grief

  • Perfectionism

  • Social anxiety and social challenges with same-aged peers

  • Social/communication challenges associated with Autism Spectrum Disorder

A specialization in the psycho-social development of male adolescents.

Most of my clients are young males who are experiencing significant social-emotional stress. My passion is supporting this population who may face additional barriers to seeking mental health treatment due to the perpetuated social stigma and societal messaging about the supposed nature of masculinity.

What about parents?

Together, we can re-author your family’s story. We can form an alliance against the challenges that brought your family to therapy, and look for opportunities for change.

The goal is to help everyone within a family system understand one another better. During parent coaching sessions we will engage in psychoeducation relevant to your teen, their overall progress in treatment, and strategies you can implement at home in order to support their ongoing progress.

What clients are saying…

  • Nick is a highly skilled therapist whose expertise has had a profoundly positive impact on my teenage son's life. His in-depth knowledge of Autism, ADHD, and behavioral issues has been instrumental in supporting my son through his mental health challenges. Nick has a remarkable ability to connect with my son, demonstrating a balance of firmness and compassion. I would highly recommend him to any parents seeking a therapist.

  • I really enjoyed working with Mr. Riley. One of the best therapists I’ve had. He made me feel welcome and was open to my rantings of random thoughts. I would want him again as a therapist if I can.
